5. When Jesus came into His own country they were

2. Inheritance in Christ
Read the Epistle of 2 Timothy

Paul wrote the second letter to his young missionary associate Timothy in A.D.66 -- about two years after he wrote 1 Timothy. Imprisioned for the second time in Rome, Paul expected to be executed at any time. There is a pathetic strain of loneliness running through the episitle, and it is not surprising the he was anxious to see Timothy, his son in the gospel, and to exhort him in his ministry.

Main Themes:

a. Reminds Timothy of his godly ancestry, and exhorts him to earnestness and courage.
b. A Christian minister requires determination, prayer, and commitment to holiness and righteousness in one's daily walk.
c. He counsels Timothy to "flee... youthful lusts" and to "follow righteousness, faith, charity, and peace.
d. Shun religious arguments and strange doctrines which eat into spiritual life and overthrow faith.
e. It should be the ambition of all to be "vessels" for the Masters use.
f. An appeal to Timothy to be steadfast in view of his spiritual opportunities and training in the scriptures.
g. Avoid foolish questions and strife -- patient treatment of opposers, with the hope that they will repent.
h. As the time for Jesus' return, draws near, evil will grow stronger, even within the fellowship of the church.

Affirmations: (Repeat and Meditate on These as You Go throughout the Day)

God did not give me the spirit of fear but a spirit of power, of love and of self-dicipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)

For He saved me from all that is evil and called me to a life of holiness - not because of any of my achievements but for His own purpose. Before time began He planned to give me in Jesus Christ the grace to achieve this purpose. (2 Timothy 1:9)

The Lord grants me understanding in everything. (2 Timothy 2:7)

I convince, rebuke, and exhort others in the Word through teaching and patience. (2 Timothy 4:2)

I fight the good fight of faith, finish the race, and keep the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

3. Dunamis Life

Grabbing Hold Of The Reality

Hebrews 4:12 -- For the word of God is living and powerful............

For one who has faith in the word of God, there is nothing impossible. There are no impossibilities when there is faith....and there are no exceptions.....

Observation

My faith in God's word is not just an abiding faith; it is active -- it is aggressive by nature.

It has focus and purpose.

Faith grabs hold of the reality of the Kingdom and forcefully and violently brings it into a collision with this natural one.

An inferior kingdom cannot stand.

Matthew 11:12 -- And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Romans 10:17 -- So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Into Action

What vision has God put into your heart?

How are you violently applying your faith?

Affirmation: My ever praising God transforms the negative assault of the enemy into a spring of sweet waters which refreshes me.

Begin your day by walking the floor & worshiping God. You've got to stir up the gift that's within you and get your mind functioning right. (2Tim1:6) - Norvel Hayes

Exercising faith to fulfill your call will always result in permanent spiritual results - "fruit which remains" measured by the lives you have dramatically changed. - Dennis Cramer

Affirmation: My identity is truly in the Lord Jesus Christ and my priestly calling is to minister and intercede for others on a daily basis.

It should be our goal every day to see the Lord more clearly, to be more occupied with Him so that He will more fully occupy our heart. - Rich Joyner

Fallow ground is ground which has once been tilled but which now lies waste. It needs to be broken up and mellowed before it is again ready to receive grain. Examine and note the state of your mind - see where you are. Go deep and turn the ground up so that it will all be mellow and soft. Then it will be ready to receive the seed and bear fruit a hundredfold. - Charles Finney

"And other seeds fell into good soil and brought forth grain..." - Mark 4:9

When you ask yourself, "Do I have enough faith?" you have already put faith as a hindrance between you and Jesus' finished work. The more you focus on your faith, the more faith slips away. But if you focus on the finished work of Christ and see God's grace toward you, God sees that as faith! - Joseph Prince

Pride has a devilish quality that keeps us from sensing our need for God's grace. - Jim Cymbala

Affirmation: The power that I have been given to testify of the coming Kingdom is the power of life, which is more precious than anything I could ever possess on this earth.

2. Inheritance in Christ
Read The Epistle of Titus

Main Themes:

Paul wrote this epistle about A.D. 63 to his missionary associate Titus, whom he had sent to work with the church on the island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea. The residents of Crete were know for their depraved behavior. But Paul had confidence that Titus could handle the situation. In the second letter to the Corinthians, the apostle described Titus as a reliable, hardworking, and dependable leader.

In his letter to Titus, Paul instructed Titus to appoint leaders for the Cretan church, to discipline those who were teaching false doctrine, and to lead the believers to practice godly behavior. Nevertheless this epistle does not teach salvation by works.

Affirmations: (Repeat and Meditate on These as You Go Throughout the Day)

As a priest unto God I further the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth.
(Titus 1:1)

Through God's grace I give up everything that does not lead to God and renounce godless
ways and worldly desires. (Titus 2:12)

God poured out His Holy Spirit abundantly on me through Jesus Christ my Savior, so that by His grace I might be put right with God and come into posession of the eternal life I hope for. (Titus 3:6,7)

The Mind Of Christ

1 Corinthians 2:16 -- For who has know or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ, the Messiah, and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. (AMP)

First Corinthians 6:17 says that when you were joined to the Lord you became one spirit with Him. He came into union with you so that He can talk to your heart to heart -- His thoughs become your actions.

He wants you to walk so closely with Him that you never lack power to overcome the evil of this world, and feel His heart of compassion toward those that are hurting or afflicted with sickness and pain. He wants to be one with you, so He can reach out through your hands and fulfill His purposes in the earth.

Affirmations

I make a fresh commitment to walk in union with God.

I give my attention to His Spirit in my inner man.

I determine to yield to His voice and not the voices of the world or the flesh (senses)!

What are you doing today to grow towards union with God?

5. Jesus told Peter __________times to________my sheep.

2. Inheritance in Christ
Read the epistle 2 Peter

The epistle was probably written from Rome just befor Peter's martyrdom in that city about A.D. 68.

Peter warns that false teachers from within the church will rise up in the future to lead believers astray. The church should be on guard against such heresies.

The second coming of Jesus and the final judgment (1 Thess. 4:13-17) will happen in God's own time. The fact that they haven't yet happened doesn't mean that God is slow or apathetic. Rather, He is loving and long-suffering waiting for others to respond to His offer of salvation. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

While waiting for the Lord to return, Peter declares that believers should live as holy and godly people, continuing to "grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Thess. 3:6-15)

Affirmations (Repeat and Meditate on These as You Go Throughout the Day):

He has granted to me His exceeding great and precious promises, that through these I might escape from the corruption that is in the world through lust and become a partaker of the devine nature. (II Peter 1:4)

I have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of God who has called me to glory and virtue. (II Peter 1:3)

3. Dunamis Life

SPEAKING FROM YOUR SPIRIT

2 Corinthians 4:13 -- We have the same spirit of faith as he (the psalmist) who wrote, 'I have believed and therefore have spoken.' We too believe, and therefore we speak.

To speak by faith is simply to speak words that agree with the word of God instead of the circumstances around you.... It's speaking from your spirit instead of from your mind.

The Bible tells us that God uses words to "call those things which be not as though they were" (Romans 4:17).

Affirmations

I speak the end result of what God's word tells me about my situation as opposed to the way it appears to the senses.

I stop "telling it like it is" and start speaking and believing the promises of God.

I put the power of God's word to work for me.

Proverbs 18:21 -- Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

It was in the consistent performance of Zacharias's duties that his "kairos" time of visitation came, and his prayer for a child (John the Baptist) was answered. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.." - Psalm 103:2

Intercession is a daily service we owe to God and our brother. He who denies his neighbor the service of praying for him denies him the service of a Christian. Intercession is not general and vague but a matter of definite persons and definite difficulties and therefore definite petitions. - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Petitionary prayer is rebellion against the world in its fallenness, the undying refusal to accept as normal what is pervasively abnormal. - Dwight Moody

Affirmation: Since I stay connected to God for the renewal of my purpose, faith, and strength - I will be able to persevere to victory.

6. These things have been written so that you may believe

2. Inheritance in Christ
Read the epistle of 1 Peter

The letter is addressed to believers who had been scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. Harassment from Roman officials had forced Christians to flee to these distant territories. Peter encouraged these suffering believers to follow the example of Christ. His persecution and death -- and subsequent resurrection -- provided assurance and hope of the future.

Some of the main themes of the epistle:

a. The basis of the believer's hope is Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead. He alone provides salvation and the promise of eternal life.

b. Jesus is the living stone who serves as the foundation for the faith of believers. Those who place their faith in Him are delivered from their sins. They become part of God's "royal priesthood, an holy nation" that bears witness of Him and His kingdom to others.

c. Believers are to use Jesus and His suffering to endure persecution for His sake with a willing and joyous spirit.

d. Respectful and humble behavior by wives might lead their unbelieving husbands to the Lord.

e. Believers are to be united in the Lord, to practice humility and love, and to resist the temptation to seek revenge against those who are causing them pain and suffering.

f. The reason for His suffering was "that He might bring us to God." He is now exalted at God's right hand. All earthly powers and authorities are subject to Him (Rev.19:1-6).

g. Peter appeals to believers to practice love and hospitality toward others, thus serving as "good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

h. It should not surprise Christians that they are called on to suffer persecution for their faith. According to Peter this is actually a badge of honor (Hebrews 12:3-11). Just as Christ's suffering was the prelude to His glorification with the Father, so it will be for all believers.

Affirmations (Repeat and Meditate on These as You Go throughout the Day)

Christ personally bore my sins in His own body on the cross , so that I might cease to live for sin and begin to live for righteousness. It was the suffering which he bore which has healed me. (1 Peter 2:24)

I have received a spiritual gift to serve others faithfully, administering God’s grace. When I speak I speak words that seem to come from God; I help as though every order was done at God’s orders, so that in everything God may receive the glory through Jesus Christ since to Him belongs all glory and power for ever and ever. (1 Peter 4:10,11)

Jesus waits for us to say what He is. Preach Him as the Savior and He saves. If you don't, He can't! Preach Him as a healer and He Heals. If you don't, He doesn't! Preach the gospel, and the gospel happens. - Reinhard Bonnke

"So then faith comes by what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ." - Romans 10:17

Eventually you may come to a place where you find yourself unable to go on with an intelligent prayer life -- you will begin to desire to lay aside such prayer. This inclination to lay aside a more outward prayer is the natural end of seeking, and hungering for something deeper. - Michael Molinos

Affirmation: I come into agreement with the Father to release me into the things He has predestined me for since before the beginning of the world.

If a person's identity is wrapped up in world pursuits (even noble ones), it will be easy to give in to a lesser love than God. Compromise occurs when we substitute God's offer with a less satisfying earthly role, lifestyle, or relationship. Substituting a person for God can be spiritually costly. - Shawn Bolz

Quietness is the incubator for the Spirit of revelation. Do you want to hear God better? Do you want to commune with Him more? Silence is golden indeed in which the Holy Spirit meets with the souls of his saints. - James Goll

"He leadeth me beside the still waters." - Psalm 23:2

When the supreme desire of your heart goes out to God, and all the spiritual energy of your nature and the powers of God come to you, there comes by the unconscious creative exercise of faith into being that which your soul calls for. Pray that you may become hungry. - John Lake
